Kwasi Asare holds Special Community Weaving Workshop at Roots Charter School in Washington, D.C.

Friends – this past weekend Kwasi did a Kente weaving workshop at Roots Charter School, in Washington, D.C. The workshop was quite a success and had a very positive atmosphere! There were people of all ages – from elementary school children and young teenagers to community elders. Everyone had a great time learning how to weave their own Kente designs on Kwasi’s specially designed small Kente looms. Roots Charter School intends to organize another community workshop in the near future, although they haven’t specified a new date yet. Watch this space for more information!

If your school, church or community organization would be interested in learning about the history and culture Kente and/or doing a workshop like this, please contact Kwasi at kwasister@gmail or call him at (202) 569-5153. We have developed an online presentation in addition to live demonstrations with the large loom and Kente design workshops small group. Kwasi can adapt his presentation to your school, church or community organization’s particular needs. Please don’t hesitate to contact Kwasi and talk about finding a way to bring Kente cloth and Kente weaving to your community!
